XML Box Score Grantham, PA – After splitting four matches over the weekend at the Battlefield Classic at Gettysburg College, the Falcons returned home for the first time in the 2014 season. Waiting at home for the Falcons was a familiar foe, the Elizabethtown Blue Jays. The match-up was the first between the rivals since the Blue Jays left the Commonwealth Conference this past summer. The Falcons claimed a 3-0 victory over their former conference foe, winning in straight sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-17.

The Falcons started the first set quickly, thanks in part to four straight kills by Jane Underman. Eventually jumping out to a 9-2 lead. While already holding a 14-8 lead in the set, the Falcons went on a 7-0 run to expand their lead. During this run the Blue Jays made five straight attacking errors.

Underman lead the way for the Falcons in the first set with five kills, but this was just the start for a very strong night. The sophomore would finish the night with 14 kills and a .462 attack percentage to go along with 15 digs.

The second set was a set of runs. Much like the first set, the Falcons jumped out to an early 8-3 lead, before the Blue Jays countered with an 11-2 run of their own. Trailing 14-10, the Falcons would rattle off nine straight points to begin a 15-3 set ending run.

The third set was a back and forth battle, until the Falcons broke a 14-14 tie open with a decisive 11-3 run that ended the set, and the match. The run was highlighted by Underman's 14th, and most impressive, kill of the night after an assist from Brooke Gallagher – who finished with night with a team high 24 assists. Just one point later the Falcons sealed the victory after a service error from the Blue Jays.

The win brings the Falcons record to 3-2 on the young season and drops the Blue Jays to 2-2.

The Falcons will next play Saturday, September 6th, when they face, Lancaster Bible College, at 11:00 a.m. and Carin University at 1:00 p.m, both games held at Lancaster Bible College.
