Grantham, PA -
Taylor Holt scored in the first 10 minutes and
Carissa Gehman tallied in the final five minutes to give Messiah a 2-0 victory over the Widener Pride. Messiah outshot the Pride 27-0 in the game.

After weathering the storm in the first few minutes, the Falcons took control collecting three corners and four shots in the next ten minutes. The Falcons capped off the ten-minute stretch with a goal off a penalty corner at the 9:38 mark.
Taylor Holt inserted a pass to
Nicole Wilkerson at the top of the circle/ Wilkerson then found Gehman on the left side. Gehman sent a pass to the left post that found Holt who had slid toward the cage. The single goal stood-up through the first-half as Messiah could not find the back of the cage despite 13 shots across the remaining 25 minutes of the half.
Throughout the entire game the Falcons' defense stood strong, but they were particularly stellar at the beginning of the second-half. The Pride earned two penalty corners early in the half, but the Messiah defense held Widener without a shot on either opportunity.
The Falcons' offense continued to pressure throughout the second-half looking for an insurance goal, that goal wouldn't come until the 66th minute. Casie Steif sent a long ball into the circle from the midfield, Gehman took Steif's pass and was knocked to the ground in front of the goal, but Gehman hung with the play and fired a back handed shot that found the back of the cage.
The goal was Gehman's 10
th of the season, and gave Messiah the 2-0 victory.
