Grantham, PA - The Falcons of Messiah College swept the Bearcats of Baruch College 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-21). The victory was Messiah's sixth consecutive and the Falcons improved to 22-2 on the season.
Messiah cruised to a 25-15 first set victory over Baruch. The Falcons edged the Bearcats in kills (14-9), attack percentage (.324-.214), but committed the same amount of errors (3-3). 
The Bearcats jumped on the Falcons early and led 3-0. Trailing 6-3, Messiah responded with five unanswered points and took an 8-6 lead. The scoring streak was formed by two kills from 
Kristen Douglas, a kill by 
Taylor Hook, and two errors committed by Baruch. 
With a slim 10-8 lead, the Falcons separated themselves from the Bearcats with a seven point scoring streak. The scoring streak was created by a two service aces by 
Taylor Hook, a kill from 
Jane Underman, a kill by 
Kristen Douglas, a kill from 
Alyssa Vorbeck, and two errors committed by the Bearcats. 
Leading 23-15, the Falcons scored the final three points of the set from a kill by 
Jane Underman, a kill from 
Taylor Hook, and an error committed by Baruch. 
Messiah dominated Baruch in the second set of play by taking the set 25-13. The Falcons topped the Bearcats in kills (16-3), compiled a .333 attack percentage compared to Baruch's -.034, but committed more errors (4-3). 
The Falcons used a six point scoring streak in the beginning of the set and took an 8-2 lead. The scoring streak was formed two kills from 
Kristen Douglas, two service aces by 
Emily Zellers, and two attack errors committed by the Bearcats. 
Messiah continued to pull away from Baruch and tallied the final two points of the set with kills by 
Braedyn Gallagher and 
Taylor Hook. 
The third and final set of the match was the most competitive with the Falcons taking a 25-21 victory. Messiah edged Baruch in kills (15-8), attack percentage (.184-.029), but committed more errors (8-7). 
Both teams were notched at eight points apiece when Messiah completed a four point scoring streak for their largest lead of the set. The scoring streak was formed by a service ace from 
Danielle Weaver, a kill by 
Kristen Douglas, and two attack errors committed by the Bearcats. 
Baruch battled back and trailed Messiah 22-21 until the Falcons crushed any hope of a comeback with three unanswered points for the set and match victory. The scoring streak was created by a kill from 
Jane Underman, a service ace by 
Emily Zellers, and an attack error committed by the Bearcats. 
Messiah received an excellent offensive performance by 
Kristen Douglas who tallied 13 kills. Douglas also turned in a great defensive performance by collecting  13 digs, while 
Ellen Musselman gathered two blocks. 
Messiah will be back in action Oct. 21 when they host the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College in a MAC Commonwealth matchup at 7:00 p.m.
