Reading, PA – Messiah College men's soccer scored four second-half goals to fly away from Albright College in a 6-0 win.
Benji Kennel tallied twice for the Falcons for the second multi-goal game of his career.
The win pushed Messiah to 11-4-1, including 5-1 in the MAC Commonwealth. The shutout was the third-straight for the Falcons, and their fourth in the past five games.
The Falcons got on the board in the 21st minute when Kennel put through a penalty kick offering Less than 10 minutes later
Will Cochran tallied of an assist from
Jacob Bender to give Messiah a 2-0 lead.
Messiah carried the 2-0 advantage into the second-half were they blew the game open.
David Alejos picked up his third goal of the season in the 55th minute and soon after Kennel tallied again.
Kennel's second score came off a feed from
Danny Rowe. It marked nearly three years to the date that he last tallied twice in a single game, which was also against Albright (Oct. 27, 2012).
Now firmly ahead 4-0, Messiah tallied twice more in a two-minute span with under 15 to play.
Zeb Cross got the first of those two off a corner action with
Austin Jeffrey, with his shot from the left side screaming across to the inside of the far post. Less than two minutes later, Jeffrey picked up a second-straight helper with a feed for
Kirby Robbins for a quick tally that made it 6-0.*
The Falcons finished with a 26-3 edge in shots, and
Connor Bell was forced to make just a single save in the net.
Messiah next plays on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when they host Stevenson at 7:00 p.m.
