Reading, PA - The Falcons of Messiah College defeated the Lions of Albright College 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 25-13) and extended their win streak to ten straight. Messiah improved to 26-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play with the victory.
The Falcons took the first set over the Lions 25-14. Messiah topped Albright in kills (18-6), attack percentage (.533-.077), and committed fewer errors (3-5). The Falcons strung together three three point scoring streaks and a four point scoring streak in route to the first set victory.

The four point scoring streak gave Messiah a 19-11 lead and was created by a kill from
Taylor Hook, a service ace by
Danielle Weaver, and two errors committed by the Lions.

The Falcons led 23-14 when they tallied the final two points of the set from a kill by
Alyssa Vorbeck and an attack error committed by Albright.

Unlike the first set, the second set was competitive that had the Falcons edge the Lions 25-23.

The score was notched 3-3 when Albright completed a four point scoring streak to pull ahead of Messiah 7-3. The Falcons battled back and tallied three unanswered points and tied the score at nine. The scoring streak was formed by a kill from
Taylor Hook, a kill from
Braedyn Gallagher, and a service ace by
Kristen Douglas.

Messiah slowly increased their lead and led 24-21 late in the set. Albright responded with two points and narrowed the Falcons lead to 24-23. Leading by one point, Messiah captured the second set victory with a kill from
Braedyn Gallagher.

The Lions continued the match with a 25-20 third set victory over the Falcons.

Messiah held a 5-2 lead when Albright rallied for five unanswered points and grabbed a 7-5 lead. The Lions steadily increased their lead throughout the set and led the Falcons 23-17.

Messiah responded and narrowed Albright's lead with three unanswered points to bring the score to 23-20 in favor of the Lions. The three point scoring streak was created by a kill from
Braedyn Gallagher and two attack errors committed by Albright.

The Lions silenced any talks of a comeback by tallying the final two points of the set with a kill from Kellie Hill and a ball handling error committed by the Falcons.

Messiah dominated Albright in the fourth and final set by cruising to a 25-13 victory.

The Falcons held a tight 9-6 lead when they exploded offensively with seven unanswered points to grab a 16-6 lead. The seven point scoring streak was formed by three kills from
Jane Underman, a kill by
Brooke Gallagher, two service aces from
Kristen Douglas, and an attack error committed by Albright.

Messiah had a comfortable 23-13 lead when they tallied the final two points of the match from two kills by
Kristen Douglas.

Jane Underman led Messiah offensively with 19 kills and
Brooke Gallagher added 33 assists. The Falcons had excellent defensive performances from
Emily Zellers (13 digs) and
Kristen Douglas (9 digs).

Messiah will be back in action this weekend when they host a tri-match against No. 13 Eastern University and Lynchburg College beginning at 10:00 a.m.
