Strong Second Half Propels Bullets Past Falcons

Grantham, PA – The Gettysburg Bullets closed the game out on a 57-33 run over the final 26:17 to defeat the Messiah Falcons by a final score of 77-60. The Falcons led by seven with 6:17 remaining in the half, but the Bullets erased that deficit and built a six-point edge before halftime to lead 33-27 at the break.

Led by Pete Crist (19 points), four Bullets finished in double figures. Micah Brown led the Falcons with 20 points while Jimmy Brackett added 11 in a losing effort.

As mentioned, the Falcons played well early on jumping out to an eight-point lead in the first nine minutes. Brackett, Brown, and Neil Murren led the charge with seven, six and five points respectively during the run. Both Brackett and Murren hit threes during the run.

Over the next four minutes the Falcons and Bullets traded baskets and with 6:17 remaining Matt Hess finished a layup to give the Falcons a even-point edge and 27-20. The Bullets then went on a 13-0 run to finish the half and take a 33-27 lead into the break. The Bullets run was highlighted by three layups by Kevin Gladstone in the final 2:13 of the half.

After the intermission, the Bullets picked up right where they left off, scoring six points over the first 55 seconds to take a 39-27 lead. A Micah Brown layup ended the Bullets' 12-0 run.

Gettysburg would extend their lead to as many as 19 points with 13:26 left to play in regulation before the Falcons would mount a bit of a comeback. Messiah used a 14-4 run to cut the lead to single-digits at 58-49, but five quick points by the Bullets pushed the lead back to 14.

Three straight buckets by Geoff Boyle, Micah Brown, and BJ McHenry would cut the Gettysburg lead to eight at 55-63, but that's as close as the Falcons would get as the Bullets would end the game on a 14-5 run and win by a final score of 77-60.

Messiah falls to 3-5 with the loss and will next take the floor on Saturday when they host Alvernia at 5:00 p.m.
