Falcons Fall in Third Straight Match

Hilton Head, SC - The Falcons are in Hilton Head, S.C. this week on Spring Break. Follow the results in their schedule and in the recaps below.

Monday, Mar. 16 - Greenville 5, Messiah 4

Messiah College played Greenville College to a tight finish on Monday, losing 5-4 to start their slate of matches in South Carolina.

The Falcons dropped two of the three doubles matches, with Michael Brookhart and Tim Dunn edging the Panthers' duo 8-6. Greenville avenged that defeat, however, as Brookhart lost a tight No. 1 singles match 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7). Nate Wieland was the victor over Brookhart in what proved to be the most important score of the day.

Dunn, Connor Graybeal, and Michael Kovacs each took decisions in their singles play.

Tuesday, Mar. 17 - Allegheny 9, Messiah 0

The Falcons dropped their second match in two days, this time losing 9-0 to Allegheny.

Messiah did not win a set against the Gators as they were handled from start to finish.

The Falcons will next play on Wednesday against Macalester College.

Wednesday, Mar. 18 - Macalester 9, Messiah 0

The Falcons suffered their third straight defeat in as many days falling to the Scots of Macalester College 9-0 on Wednesday.

Peter Shuck came the closest to scoring for the Falcons, forcing a tiebreaker in his singles match with Wilson Merrell. Shuck would fall (6-4, 7-6 (8-6) and the Falcons would not win a set as the Scots rolled to a 9-0 victory.

The Falcons will next play on Thursday morning when they take on Shepard University beginning at 8:00 a.m.
