(Statistics for this game have not yet been reported)Clearwater, FL - The No. 19 Messiah Falcons fell 11-10 to the No. 1 Franklin and Marshall Diplomats on Wednesday morning in Clearwater, Fla. With the game tied 10-10 in the second-half, the Diplomats scored last to defeat the Falcons.
Grace Saliba's free-position shot gave the Diplomats the edge with just 1:04 to play. The goal soon saved the Diplomats from the upset, although Messiah's 3-4 record is quite misleading considering three of their four losses have come to nationally ranked teams.
Messiah led early in the game 4-1 before holding a 5-4 advantage at the half.
Claire Stikeleather scored early in the second-half to make it 6-4, but F&M responded with three-straight tallies to take the lead.
The Falcons tied the game at 9-9 and 10-10 at different occassions, with
Jenna Stover's goal with just over two minutes to play knotting the score for the final time. Saliba scored less than a minute later to seal the win.
Messiah's next game is Mar. 25 at Stevenson University, with the game time set for 4:00 p.m.
