Falcons Take Down Pointers, Finish Week 3-1

Hilton Head, SC - The Falcons are in Hilton Head, S.C. this week on Spring Break. Follow the results in their schedule and in the recaps below.

Monday, Mar. 16 - Messiah 7, Greenville 2

Messiah College celebrated the southern sunshine with a strong performance on Monday, defeating Greenville College by the score of 7-2.

The doubles combinations of Ashli Livermore-Kelly Hopkins and Jennifer Kitlan-Emily Doron each earned wins by large margins to steer Messiah in the right direction. In the singles matches Livermore, Hopkins, Kitland, Carly Dove, and Meagan Scala all earned wins to seal the victory.

Scala's decision was highlighted by a 10-4 tiebreaker to complete her win.

Tuesday, Mar. 17 - Allegheny 8, Messiah 1

The Falcons dropped their first match this week, losing 8-1 to Allegheny. The doubles pair of Ashli Livermore and Kelly Hopkins won the lone set for the Falcons, taking a narrow 8-6 decision.

Messiah was handled by the Gators in the other match-ups in a dominating performance.

The Falcons will next play on Wednesday against Macalester College.

Wednesday, Mar. 18 - Messiah 6, Macalester 3

On Wednesday the Messiah Falcons got back in the win column with a 6-3 decision over the Scots from Macalester College.

In singles action, Carly Dove (6-1, 6-0) and Meagan Scala (6-4, 6-2) earned decisive victories for Messiah. In doubles play the Falcons took two of the three matches including an 8-1 victory from the team of Ashli Livermore and Kelly Hopkins. The win improves the Falcons to 2-1 on the week and to 4-1 overall this season.

Messiah will next be in action on Thursday morning against Shepard University beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Friday, Mar. 20 - Messiah 6, Wisconsin - Stevens Point 3

After rain washed out Thursday's match with Shepherd University the Falcons were back on the court Friday morning when they took down Wisconsin - Stevens Point 6-3. The match wraps up the Falcons' spring break trip to Hilton Head, SC - a trip that saw the Falcons go a perfect 4-0.

Messiah went 4-2 in singles play, with Ashli Livermore (4-6, 6-2, 10-5), Jennifer Kitlan (2-6, 6-3, 10-7), Emily Doron (6-0, 6-2), and Carly Dove (7-6 (7-3), 6-2) picking up victories for the Falcons. In doubles play the Falcons went 2-1, with both of their wins coming by a score of 8-1.

Messiah will be back in action on Thursday Mar. 26 at 3:30 p.m. when they visit Juniata College.
