ResultsReading, PA - This afternoon the Falcons earned their first victory of the season with a 9-0 win over conference opponent Alvernia. The Falcons controlled the match throughout as Alvernia was only able to win one set. Messiah will look to build on this conference win as they face five conference opponents out of their remaining seven matches.
In doubles play,
Michael Brookhart and
Tim Dunn secured an 8-5 victory, while
Peter Shuck and
Michael Kovacs were able to hold on for a close 9-7 win.
Devin Esch and
Connor Graybeal coasted to an 8-1 decision to round out the doubles.
The Falcons then kept the pressure on the Crusaders in their singles matches.
Michael Brookhart was the lone Falcon to go three sets, eventually winning 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. Dunn, Graybeal, and Kovacs cruised as they only lost a combined three games.
The Falcons will next take on conference foe, Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. on Mar. 8 at 3:30 p.m.
