Grantham, PA – The women's tennis team battled conference rival Lebanon Valley for more than a week to finally earn a hard-fought, 5-4 win.

Ok, well, that's not exactly true.

This afternoon Messiah and Lebanon Valley completed a postponed match from Apr. 15-- one that was shutdown for darkness-- and the Falcons came away with a narrow win. The Falcons were up 4-3 as play restarted, and they took the victory thanks to a singles win by No. 2 Kelly Hopkins (6-3., 4-6, 7-5). Ashli Livermore and Carly Dove had already finished their wins earlier in the month.

Hopkins' win, coupled with the pair of singles and pair of doubles points earned on Apr. 7 solidified the decision.

"This was a great win for us, albeit unconventional," head coach Jon Arosell said.

The win pushed Messiah to 4-1 in the Commonwealth, and they're now in a three-way tie for first place with both Alvernia and Lebanon Valley. The Falcons' match with Hood this Saturday will contribute to the teams' final seeding for next week's Commonwealth Tournament.
