Messiah's All-Time Conference Honors

Annville, PA – With the MAC Commonwealth Championships set to begin tomorrow, the conference has announced the All-MAC Commonwealth teams. A total of nine Falcons were named to the three teams, and head coach Brooke Good was awarded Coach of the Year.

Messiah had five out of the 11 First Team honorees, including forwards Carissa Gehman and Moriah Pfautz, midfielders Lindsay Bower and Kristin Donohue, and defender Hannah Roland. Defender Sara Brooks and goalie Shelby Landes picked up Second Team honors, while forward Taylor Holt and midfielder Nicole Wilkerson were named Honorable Mention.

The nine players named is the most ever for the Falcons, breaking the record shared by the 2008 and 2009 squads which each had eight.

The Coach of the Year honor is the second-straight for Good, who has led the Falcons to a 16-1 record (undefeated against Division III opponents). Messiah has also been ranked No. 1 in the country for five straight weeks. In her five seasons at the helm, Good has compiled a 79-24 record, including 36-3 in MAC Commonwealth action.

Carissa Gehman receives her third-straight All-MAC Commonwealth First Team honor for her outstanding offensive play, pacing a Falcon scoring attack that is first in the country in scoring margin (4.04) and second in scoring average (4.75). The forward leads the team and conference with 21 goals, and is top on the team but second in conference with 45 points. Gehman also checks in a No. 9 nationally in goals scored. In Commonwealth play, she recorded at least one goal in all but one conference game, including a hat trick against Arcadia.

Moriah Pfautz combined with Gehman to form quite the dynamic duo up front, as she recording 15 goals (fourth in conference), nine assists (tied for third), and 31 points (third). Each player had five game-winning goals on the year, tied at the top of the MAC Commonwealth. In conference play, the Pfautz registered a point in all but one contest, including a two-goal, three-assist, seven-point performance against Stevenson and a hat trick at Lebanon Valley.

Midfielder Lindsay Bower and defender Hannah Roland each garnered their second-straight First Team awards. Bower exhibited very strong play on both ends of the field, and Roland anchored an outstanding Falcon defense that only allowed one goal in conference play. Roland also led the team with three defensive saves.

Rounding out the five players on the First Team is Kristin Donohue, who received her first such award this year. Donohue is fourth on the team with six goals, tied for the lead with nine assists, and fourth with 21 points. Her assist total is also good enough for third in the Commonwealth.

Both of Messiah's Second Team Honorees are on the defensive end in defender Sara Brooks and goalie Shelby Landes. The award is Landes' second-straight of the same variety and the first for Brooks. Landes recorded 41 saves on the year to go with a .774 save percentage (third in conference) and six shutouts (first). Her goals-against-average mark of 0.75 is tops in the Commonwealth as well as sixth in all of Division III. Along with Roland, Brooks and Landes have locked down conference opponents, only allowing one goal and 19 shots (13 on goal).

Taylor Holt and Nicole Wilkerson complete Messiah's conference awards, each with their second-straight Honorable Mention honors. Holt is third on the team with 12 goals and 27 points, which are both seventh in the Commonwealth. The midfielder also registered a goal in five of the seven conference matchups. Wilkerson was content in giving her teammates the glory this year, only scoring one goal but dishing out 13 assists. That places the midfielder third in the conference and tied for fifth in the nation in total assists.

Messiah will begin the run for their fifth-straight MAC Commonwealth title under Good and their tenth-straight overall on Wednesday when they host the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen in semifinal action at 7:00 p.m. on Anderson Field.
