Falcons Overpowered By No. 6 Bullets

Gettysburg, PA – The Falcons of Messiah College were overpowered by the No. 6 Bullets of Gettysburg College falling by a 12-4 score and dropped to 1-1 on the season. Blake Knobloch, Justin Bradley, and Luke Hall all tallied goals for the Falcons in the loss.
 
The Bullets struck first in the game with a goal from Jameson Smith. Messiah quickly responded with a well-placed shot for a goal from Blake Knobloch and notched the score at one.
 
Jameson Smith added his second straight goal off a man up opportunity and gave Gettysburg a 2-1 advantage. Smith quickly added another goal for the Bullets and the early hat trick when his shot bounced off the post and into the net.
 
Leading 3-1, Jameson Smith added yet another goal for Gettysburg and pulled ahead of Messiah 4-1. Next, the Falcons got back on the board off an extra man opportunity when Blake Knobloch found Justin Bradley who finished for the score.
 
Messiah made a costly mistake in the final minute of the first half when they gave Gettysburg an extra man opportunity. Gettysburg took advantage of the extra man opportunity when Jameson Smith found Paul Werner for the goal with just seven seconds remaining in the half.
 
Gettysburg extended their lead off a rebound shot from Michael Risser and extended their lead to 7-2. Sam Stengel made the initial block when Risser snagged the ball from the air and found the back of the cage.
 
Messiah battled back and snapped Gettysburg's three-goal streak when Isaac Zorn found Luke Hall by the crease for the goal to make the score 7-3. The momentum the Falcons gained was quickly crushed when Gettysburg's Mike Distler found some room and added another goal for the Bullets.
 
Gettysburg struck again on a man up opportunity when Mike Distler found Reed Barbe on the crease for a goal that put the Bullets up 9-3 at the end of the third quarter.
 
The Bullets started the fourth quarter by tallying two quick goals to pull ahead of Messiah 11-3. The Falcons responded when Tyler Goglio found Blake Knobloch who ripped a shot on an extra man opportunity for the score. The Bullets tacked on another goal to make the final score 12-4.
 
Messiah will be back in action when they travel to Frostburg, MD to take on the Bobcats of Frostburg State University on Mar. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
