Grantham, PA - Messiah College women's tennis didn't lose a game in doubles and never looked back in an eventual 9-0 sweep of Lycoming on Wednesday afternoon. Playing in warm temperatures and beautiful sun, the Falcons dominated behind balanced and strong play from each position.
The Falcons began their dominance early in the day as they won each doubles match in shutout fashion.
Kelly Hopkins and
Sydney Schandel played in the number one spot,
Kaitlyn Russell and
Carly Dove in the number two, and
Emily Doron and
Meagan Scala in the number three.Â
Messiah was missing their usual number one competitor,
Ashli Livermore, but were not phased as not one set in singles saw a Messiah player give up more than two points.
Kelly Hopkins occupied the number one spot and won by a convincing score of 6-2, 6-0, while each
Meagan Scala and
Robin Schwarzmann each won 6-0, 6-0.
The Falcons will compete next on Saturday afternoon when they host Alvernia University with a 1:00 p.m. match start.
