Grantham, PA - Messiah College won two doubles matches and all but one singles match to defeat King's College 7-2 on Monday afternoon. The win was Messiah's fifth in a row.
Messiah came out of the doubles competitions with a 2-1 lead after Geo Parkhurst and Nate Carl managed to take an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles over
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal. Despite that defeat, Messiah won the other two doubles matches with ease to set up a dominating showing in singles.
Dunn took another tough loss at No. 1 singles, though he battled back from a 6-0 loss to be edged 7-6 in the second set. His teammates picked him up in impression fashion as they won all other five singles matches. No. 2 and No. 3 singles were highly-contested, with Graybeal recovering from an opening set loss to rally for a thrilling win over Nate Carl. At No. 3,
Devin Esch took a close first set (7-5) before running away with the match with a dominating 6-0 score.
Messiah will play again in two days when they travel to Hood College for a match at 3:30 p.m.
