Grantham, PA - Messiah College opened Monday's match against King's with three-straight doubles wins en route to a convincing 8-1 win over the Monarchs. 
Kaitlyn Russell and 
Carly Dove provided the afternoon's highlight with a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles to help the Falcons get a 3-0 edge prior to the singles competition.
Maddie Griffin earned the only win for King's, doing so 6-3, 6-1 over 
Ashli Livermore at No. 1 singles. This came after Livermore and 
Kelly Hopkins combined to beat Griffin and Hannah Jenkins at No. 1 doubles by an 8-3 score.
Russell won No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-4 in what was the most competitive match other than Livermore's. The rest of the matches were strongly in Messiah's grip as they went onto the 8-1 win.
Messiah turns around quickly and will play at Hood College tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
