Glenside, PA - The Falcons of Messiah College soared past the Knights of Arcadia University by a 10-4 score to improve to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in the MAC Commonwealth. The Falcons and Knights were tied at three a piece heading into halftime when Messiah exploded offensively and outscored Arcadia 7-1 in the second half of play.
Chris Bry had a breakout game with three goals, the largest goal total in a single game for him all season.
The first quarter of the contest displayed both offenses struggling to find the find the back of the net. Both Messiah and Arcadia notched one goal a piece in the first quarter from
Chris Bry and Jay Horner on an extra man opportunity.
The second quarter was very similar to the first as both squads played shutdown defense. The Falcons managed to record two goals from
Isaac Zorn and
Justin Bradley, while the Knights added two scores from Sean Readinger and Ryan Green.
This game proved to be a tale of two halves as Messiah dominated on the offensive and defensive ends of the field, outscoring Arcadia 7-1. The Falcons began their big second half with three straight goals from
Chris Bry (2) and
Joseph Franken.
Arcadia responded with their lone goal of the half from Kenny Grant and trailed Messiah 6-4. The Falcons recorded the final four goal of the game from Josehp Franken,
Noah Wright (2), and
Luke Hall for the 10-4 victory.
Statistically, Messiah conquered Arcadia in shots (45-18), shots on goal (22-11), ground balls (29-22), face offs (12-6), and committed fewer turnovers (15-22).
The Falcons will be back in action this Wednesday when they host the Crusaders of Alvernia University at 7:00 p.m.
