Reading, PA - No. 17 Messiah College went on the road and defeated Alvernia University this afternoon, 21-11. Courtney Wagner scored five goals and Jenna Stover added three goals and two assists in the win.

With the win the Falcons moved 7-0 in the MAC Commonwealth, and they will close out the regular-season when they travel to Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen are 6-1 in the conference and in second-place behind the Falcons.

In today's game Messiah went up 3-0 after just 4:28 of play. Kendra Herbenar, Ida Ehrhardt, and Athens all scored to get the Falcons off to the quick start, and soon enough the Falcons were up 6-1 after Wagner tallied three-straight goals of her own.

After Abby McCarty scored for Alvernia to make it 6-2 at the 21:06 mark, Wager scored her fourth goal of the game for a 7-2 advantage. It was the third time this season she tallied at least four times in a game.

Later in the game Messiah scored four of the last five goals of the second-half to go up 14-6. The final goal was from Wagner again as she set a new career-high with five scores.

Messiah outscored Alvernia 7-5 in the second-half to earn the win. In the end a season-high 11 different players tallied, with Jenna Stover and Shayna Delaney each scoring three times to back Wagner'g lead. As mentioned, Athens led Messiah with three assists to reach 11 on the season and join both Jenna Stover (22) and Allie Colson (10) in double-digit helpers.

As they've done many times this season, Messiah's stronghold on possession and territory was bolstered by dominant play in the midfield and on clears (16-17). The Falcons also scored their 21 goals on just 32 shots (.656) with Wagner impressively hitting her five goals on just as many attempts.

In the cage Alexa Dipeso collected 10 saves, the third time this season she's reached a double-digit total.
