ResultsGrantham, PA - The Messiah College men's tennis defeated the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 6-3. The Falcons won five of six singles matches and one match in doubles competition.
The lone doubles win came from the duo of
Devin Esch and
Austin Warren, who defeated their opponents by a convincing score of 8-3. In the number three doubles match,
Dustin Innerst and
Blake Ross battled closely but ultimately fell 6-8.
Singles competition is where the Falcons took over, where they won five of six matches.
Tim Dunn (6-3, 6-2) and
Connor Graybeal (6-3, 6-0) each came away with compelling victories, while
Austin Warren played a tough match in the number five spot winning by a close 6-4, 6-3 score. Both
Devin Esch (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) and
Dustin Innerst (1-6, 6-1, 6-4) recovered from early deficits and won in three sets, and
Blake Ross suffered the Falcons only singles loss in a tightly contested 4-6, 3-6 defeat.
With today's victory, the Falcons improve to 4-6, and will next take the courts against Albright College in Reading, PA on Saturday afternoon.
