5/2/2016 3:00:00 PM

Grantham, PA – Messiah College men's tennis team secured their third-straight number one seed in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament this season, and they will now pursue a third conference title in as many seasons. The semifinal match will take place on Wednesday, May 4 at Messiah, with the Championship taking place at the highest remaing seed on Saturday, May 7.

See below for a quick preview of the tourney.

Scouting the No. 1 Messiah College Falcons (11-6, 7-0)
6628It would be an understatement to say the Falcons have been hot as of late. Messiah is riding a nine-match winning streak going into the MAC Commonwealth tournament, with their last loss coming on Mar. 11 where they lost to Babson College 9-0 to wrap up their Spring Break trip down south. Over the streak, both Devin Esch and Austin Warren have seen success, winning seven and eight out of eight singles matches, respectively. As a doubles duo, they are also eight-for-eight in doubles over that stretch. The team's matchup against Stevenson this past Saturday decided the number one seed in the Tournament, and the Falcons stepped up when it mattered, winning 6-3. The Falcons will face No. 4 Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, a rematch of a 9-0 Messiah win from earlier this year.
Scouting the No. 2 Stevenson University Mustangs (12-6, 6-1)
6625Stevenson is riding a solid streak of their own, as they have won 10 of their last 11 matches. Stevenson fell to Messiah on Saturday in a battle for the number one seed, and will face No. 3 Arcadia in the semifinals. Leading the Mustangs are Troy Derrick (13-2, 6-0), Zach Borgerding (12-5, 4-1), and Conrad Ellis (14-6, 6-0). Their consistent performance in the middle of the lineup are what leads the team into the playoffs. Head coach Evan Clifton enters his first MAC Commonwealth team tournament with the hopes of securing his first championship as a head coach.
Scouting the No. 3 Arcadia University Knights (10-10, 5-2)
6632Arcadia finished off their season with a 9-0 win over Hood on Saturday to lock in the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Chuck Poklikuha and Darren Stochmal have each gone 8-2 in their last 10 matches to lead Arcadia into the postseason. The Knights have seen success when playing on the road with their 8-4 record away from Glenside. They will look to continue that success when the travel to Stevenson on Wednesday to face the Mustangs in the semifinal round.
Scouting the No. 4 Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen (6-10-1, 3-3-1)
6626The Dutchmen edged Alvernia in their season finale to sneak into the MAC Commonwealth tournament. Their 5-4 win over the Crusaders came at just the right time, as a loss would have sent them home for the summer. Lebanon Valley had no single outstanding performer throughout the season, but made it this far with some hard fought victories and solid doubles play. The Dutchmen will match up with the Falcons on Wednesday in Grantham, where they will seek their first MAC Commonwealth team championship since they took home the banner in 2009.
