Falcons Win Four-Straight to Sweep Battlefield Classic

XML Box Score 1 | XML Box Score 2 | XML Box Score 3 | XML Box Score 4 Gettysburg, PA - Messiah College swept a four-game outing at the Battlefield Classic this weekend as they won 12-straight sets across four matches. (Note: complete statistics for this weekend may not be reported until the entire tournament is complete.)

Jane Underman and Brooke Gallagher were also named to the Battlefield Classic All-Tournament Team.

Messiah College 3, Marywood College 0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-17)
The Falcons swept Marywood on Friday to open up tournament play at the Battlefield Classic. Hannah Baumer led the team with 12 kills and finished with a .705 attack percentage and no errors. Mary Underman had an impressive Falcon debut with 11 kills and a team-best .714 attack percentage. Brooke Gallagher collected 36 assists and served up four aces in the winning effort.
 
As a team Messiah finished with 47 kills, an .506 attack percentage, and nine service aces.

Messiah College 3, Dickinson College 0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-13)
The Falcons kept the strong play going in their second match with Dickinson. Messiah dominated the first and third sets, with their two-point win in set two helping them earn another sweep. Brooke Gallagher added another 29 assists while both Jane Underman and Kristen Douglas collected nine kills. Taylor Hook added another six kills in the win.

Messiah College 3, McDaniel College 0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-23)
The Falcons continued their momentum into day two of the Battlefield Classic as they cruised past McDaniel in their opening match, defeating the Green Terror in three sets (25-12, 25-21, 25-23). They will finish with a 12:00 p.m. match against Montclair State. 

Brooke Gallagher led the team with eight kills, 22 assists, and 13 digs. Hannah Baumer added six kills of her own. Emily Zellers collected eight digs along with three service aces to help the Falcons earn the win. 

Messiah College 3, Montclair State 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-19)
Messiah finished strong in their last match of the Battlefield Classic, sweeping Montclair State and improving to 4-0 on the season. Jane Underman led the team with 11 kills while Hannah Baumer tallied 10 of her own. Brooke Gallagher had 34 assists and a remarkable 11.3 assists per set average across the two-day tournament.

Kristen Douglas and Mary Underman each added eight kills while Emily Zellers collected 11 digs in the win.

The Falcons will be back in action Wednesday as they open MAC Commonwealth play against Stevenson in Brubaker Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
