Grantham, Pa - No. 8 Messiah College scored three goals on the second night of a lightning-delayed showdown with No. 4 Ursinus College and finished with a 4-1 win. Four different Falcons scored in the victory, including
Taylor Holt who scored the game's first goal last night.
With the win, the Falcons improved to 2-1 on the season and handed the Bears their first loss of the year to go with two previous wins.

Holt's goal gave Messiah a 1-0 lead just a few minutes into last night's portion, coming by way of a two-on-one breakaway.
Moriah Pfautz pushed the ball forward on the right side and used a quick touch and burst of speed to beat her defender and turn toward the cage. As the goalie stepped out to challenge Pfautz gave a quick pass across the circle to Holt on the left side where she knocked it through.Â

A couple of minutes later, with 28:44 left in the first-half, lightning forced a delay of play until tonight's restart at 7:00 p.m.

Ursinus evened the score just 27 seconds into this evening's play, but
Lindsay Bower quickly put Messiah back in front for good. Two minutes after the Bears knotted the score,
Nicole Wilkerson received a penalty corner to the left side and crossed a pass directly in front of the goal. Bower beat a defender and arrived on the scene to rocket a shot inside the left post for her first goal of the season.

The Falcons went into halftime with a 2-1 lead, outshooting Ursinus 6-4 (4-2 on goal). The Bears held the advantage on penalty corners, taking three to Messiah's two.

Messiah added to their lead early in the second-half, when
Kristin Donohue weaved her way around a defender and fired a pass to the front of the cage, where
Carissa Gehman was waiting to knock it in. The goal, which came at the 42:35 mark, was Gehman's team-leading fourth of the season.

The Falcons' attack did not let up, as just four minutes later
Emily Schillinger found the back of the cage to bring Messiah's scoring total to four. It came from a feed off a penalty corner that was worked around to
Megan Wetzel, who centered in a ball that Schillinger was able to tap past the near post.

The remaining 24 minutes of the contest turned into a defensive battle, as both teams were only able to register two shots apiece. More than 25 hours after the first whistle, Messiah was able to claim the 4-1 victory.

For the game, Messiah sent in 10 shots (eight on goal) to Ursinus' six (four on goal). The Bears' goalkeeper, Jules Singer, registered four saves, while
Shelby Landes turned away three shots in goal for the Falcons. Messiah was doubled up in regards to penalty corners by an 8-4 margin.

As mentioned, four different Falcons tallied a goal in the game, and Messiah also saw four assists from a completely different set of players: Pfautz, Donohue, Wilkerson, and Wetzel. Holt led the Falcon attack with her goal and three shots, while Gehman and Bower chipped in two shots to go with each of their goals.

Messiah will look to pull off another upset when they host No. 7 Salisbury University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
