Grantham, PA – The Messiah College women's basketball team defeated the Arcadia Knights 60-33 in a dominating performance on Saturday afternoon in Brubaker Auditorium. The Falcons (No. 20 WBCA/No. 22 D3hoops) moved to 18-1 on the season and 9-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.

Gillian Glackin had another impressive game finishing with a double-double grabbing 12 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Glackin also collected 5 blocks on the afternoon, giving her a total of 200 career blocks. She is the second women's basketball player to reach 200 blocks in Falcons history. Leah Springer also scored 10 points against the Knights, Maci Thornton contributed nine, and Jen Fairbanks added eight.  The Falcons shot 21 of 59 (35.6%) from the field, 6 of 22 (27.3%) from three point range, and an impressive 12 of 13 (92.3%) from the line. 12 different Falcons posted points against the Knights and every player on the roster was able to see court time.

The last time Messiah and Arcadia met was on Dec. 7th and the Falcons defeated the Knights 67-48. Fairbanks led the Falcons in scoring with 15 and Glackin and Hoff each had 12 in the last match up.

The Falcons started the game strong both on the offensive and defensive end; they held the Knights to only 11 points in the first half of the game. Seven falcons produced offensively in the first half and Leah Springer led all scorers with 7 points.

Maci Thornton ignited the Falcon's offense, by hitting a three at the start of the first quarter. Leah Springer and Jen Fairbanks also connected from three point range to extend the Falcons lead to 17-5 going in to the second quarter. Messiah continued to control the tempo of the game in the second. Thornton again started Messiah's offense off with a shot from behind the arc at the beginning of the quarter and then Fairbanks connected from three to extend the Falcons' lead to 17 points (23-6). Messiah led by as many as 23 points after Glackin knocked down a pair of free throws. The first half was dominated by the Falcons scoring 33 points and holding the Knights to 11.

The Falcons came out of halftime looking to build upon their lead and play solid defense; Messiah did just that. The Falcons contained their defenders and as a team they held the Knights to only six points in the third quarter. Offensively, Gillian Glackin scored six of her 10 points and Kaitlyn Hoff collected all five of her buckets in the third.

Messiah struggled to take care of the ball late in the fourth which gave the Knights opportunities to chip away at Messiah's advantage. Arcadia displayed their best offensive showing in the last quarter, scoring 16 of their total 33 points.  However, Messiah was able to secure the 27 point victory over Arcadia.

Messiah out-rebounded Arcadia 45-31 and the Falcons' bench outscored the Knight's 32 to 6. Arcadia, on the other hand, was able to convert 11 points off of Messiah turnovers and Maureen Fiocca led all scorers with 18 points and she also collected 8 rebounds for the Knights.

The Falcons head to Stevenson University on Feb. 1, tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
