Seven Scorers Lead Messiah to Lopsided Road Win

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – No. 3 Messiah scored four goals in each half and earned an 8-0 win at Lycoming on Wednesday afternoon. Seven different Falcons scored to push the team to 10-1-3 on the season, and also 4-0-1 in the MAC Commonwealth. Lycoming fell to 3-11-1 with the loss, and 0-6 in the conference.

One Early
The Falcons got on the board in the 11' when a breakdown in the Warriors' defense broke down and left Abby Monko unmarked. Sunny Gelnovatch took advantage with a serve to Monko at the top of the box, and she used the open opportunity to put one past keeper Helen Ross.

Three Later (in the Half)
Messiah broke the game open late in the first-half when they scored three goals in a span of less than four minutes. Brooke Firestone beat her mark to set-up the Megan Mansfield for the first of that group, and Emily Lockwood scored off a double-assist combination by Ellie Lengacher and Mansfield just over two minutes later.

Firestone (goal) and Mansfield (assist) teamed up again in the 34' to make it 4-0 and put Messiah firmly in control.

For Good Measure
The Falcons' 4-0 lead increased to 5-0 in the 52' when a mishandled pass to Ross went over the line for an own goal. Less than 20 minutes later Messiah earned one for themselves, this time off the head of Ellie Lengacher. Lilly Shover collected the assist thanks to a great corner serve that Lengacher put through.

In the final five minutes of play Messiah added two more goals, one from Maddie Waits and the other from Emily D'Amico. Lilly Shover assisted on both of those goals, too, and became the 10th player in program history to tally three assists in a single game.

Up Next
Messiah will return to Shoemaker Field this Saturday when the host a Homecoming Day match with Lebanon Valley. The Dutchmen are 7-2-3 overall, and 3-1 in the conference heading into today's match at Stevenson.

Game time on Saturday is set for 3:00 p.m.
