FREDERICK, Md. - No. 7 Messiah women's soccer defeated Hood College on the road this evening 6-0. Offense was spread out this as six different Falcons scored goals to improve the team to 12-1-3 on the year, and 6-0-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
Late In First
The first goal for Messiah didn't come until the 36' when
Emily Lockwood found the back of the net on an assist by
Brooke Firestone to put the Falcons up early 1-0. Less than a minute later
Lydia Eichorn crossed a ball into the box where
Brooke Firestone settled and fire a shot past the goalie for goal number two.
Four More To Victory
The Falcons kept the pressure on in the second-half and it was
Maddie Waits that scored a goal from 20 yards out to put Messiah up 3-0. Later in the 71'
Sunny Gelnovatch flicked a one-timer off a corner kick from
Emily Lockwood for the score for the fourth goal. The offensive didn't stop there as Maddie Kohl scored just seven minutes later to increase the Falcons' lead 5-0, and then the final goal of the game came from
Natalie Hoober in the 83' when she sent a long shot to the far post that found the back of the net.
Messiah tallied 42 shots and strong defense as Hood only managed to get off one shot the entire game.

The Falcons will return to Shoemaker Field this Saturday for their regular-season finale as they host Stevenson University. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
