Messiah's All-Time Conference Honors
Annville, PA – The Middle Atlantic conference has announced the All-MAC Commonwealth teams. Four Falcons were named to the three teams,
Mary Underman leads the recognized players as she was tabbed Player of the Year this season.
Jennifer Rusling and
Braedyn Gallagher were named to the SecondTeam while Amanda Dahlman was named Honorable Mention.
After being named Rookie of the Year last year,
Mary Underman became the program's second player to be awarded conference Player of the Year and it was a much deserved honor. Underman led the team in multiple statistical categories finishing with 307 kills, a 3.16 kills per set average, and an impressive conference-leading .406 attack percentage. That .406 mark also has her ranked sixth in the nation. She tallied 10-plus kills 17 times, and reached the 20-kill mark twice against Wooster and Lebanon Valley. Underman was also solid on defense as she led the team with 87 blocks, a 0.90 per set average.
The Second Team honor is the first All-MAC honor for
Jennifer Rusling after taking on the starting setter position this season. She was third in the MAC Commonwealth in assists per set (8.69), and dished out 938 on the year. Rusling also led the team with 32 service aces and was second on the team in digs (330). She passed the 30-assists mark 17 times and had season-high numbers against York College (52) and Franklin & Marshall (49).
Braedyn Gallagher is also earning her first All-MAC honor being named to the Second Team along side teammate Rusling. She was second on the team in kills (265), averaging 2.79 kills per set, and service aces (23). On defense she tallied 259 digs and also recorded 35 blocks.
First-year player Amanda Dahlman was named to the Honorable Mention Team after her solid play as the Falcons' libero this season. She led the team with 458 digs good enough for a 4.09 dig per set average. That mark already has her ranked in the top-10 in the Messiah volleyball all-time records for digs in a single season. Dahlman also led the team with 32 service aces.
Messiah fell to Alvernia University Monday night in the MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinal in a competitive battle 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-10, 23-25, 13-15). They finished with an overall record of 14-17.
