CHANDLER, Ariz. – On Wednesday, four Falcons were recognized by Longstreth and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as All South-Atlantic-Region players. Carissa Gehman, Kristin Donohue, and Shayna Landis were selected to the First Team, while Nicole Wilkerson garnered Second Team honors.

The Falcons came up just short of repeating as National Champions in 2017, falling 4-0 in the title game to Middlebury College on Nov. 19. Messiah finished the season with a record of 22-1 after riding an incredible 44-game win streak into the championship contest.

Gehman earns a spot on the South Atlantic All-Region First Team for the fourth-straight season, all of her years with the Falcons. Once again, the forward led the team with 31 goals, 11 assists, and 73 points, along with eleven game-winners. Gehman's goals per game mark of 1.35 ranked seventh in the country, while her points per game mark of 3.17 came in sixth nationally.

Donohue played a wonderful midfield for the Falcons, registering six goals and a team-leading 15 assists for a total of 27 points. The senior was 12th in the nation with an assists per game mark of 0.65. The recognition is Donohue's second straight All-Region nod.

Landis receives All-Region honors for the second time in her career as the junior was named to the Second Team as a freshman. The defender anchored a Falcon back line that allowed just a 0.74 goals against average (2nd nationally), notched 0.57 shutouts per game (2nd nationally), and held opponents to an incredible 2.9 shots per game.

Wilkerson earns a spot on the Second Team with her first career All-Region nod. The midfielder was extremely solid on both sides of the field for the Falcons, scoring a career-high four goals, two of which were game-winners.

The awards came four weeks after All-MAC Commonwealth selections were announced, in which Gehman earned First Team and Offensive Player of the Year honors, Landis received First Team and Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Donohue was also added to the First Team.

The 2017 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Regional Players of the Year will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 30. All-American teams will follow on Wednesday, Dec. 6, and Longstreth/NFHCA will wrap up the awards with the National Player of the Year on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
