Carlisle, PA – The No. 11 Messiah softball team defeated Dickinson College today in a double-header sweep winning 12-0 in the first game and 5-0 in the night cap.
Carrie Fix was 3-6 on the day with five RBI's, including a two-run home run in game one, and scored three runs.
Erin Cressman was 3-5 with four runs scored and three RBI's, and
Amber Bingaman was 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Carrie Fix (3-2) earned the win in game one and
Madelyn Yannetti (6-1) threw a complete game two.

The Falcons improved to 12-3 on the season and will next play on Saturday when they travel to Alvernia University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.

Game One: Messiah 12, Dickinson 0
Offense was no trouble for the Falcons in game one as they racked up 11 hits and scored 12 runs.
Carrie Fix was hot off the start with a double down the left field line and she eventually scored on a throwing error by the catcher to put Messiah up 1-0. With one out
Amanda Jones hit a double to left center and then scored on an RBI single by
Erin Cressman.

Amber Bingaman hit a single that advanced Cressman to second and then
McKenzie Tebbs stepped up and hit a double that scored a run. With runners at first and third
Sydney Boreman grounded out to the shortstop but Bingaman scored on the play increasing the Falcon lead 4-0.

In the top of the second inning,
Ashley Carroll got things started reaching on an error and then stole second to move into scoring position.
Carrie Fix crushed a home run, her second of the year, to extend the lead 6-0.

The offense didn't stop for Messiah as they added four more runs in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Fix with the hot bat again struck gold with a double that cleared the bases. In what ended up being the final inning,
Nicole Kreimer came in and hit a single to center field to get things going in the fifth. Kreimer scored on an error and then later
Kayla Parker singled to score
Ashley Carroll.

The Red Devils were unsuccessful to push a run across in the bottom of the evening, resulting in a five-inning mercy rule in favor of the Falcons. Defensively Messiah was solid and did not commit any errors.
Carrie Fix (3-2) threw four innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out two batters to earn the win.

Game Two: Messiah 5, Dickinson 0
In the second game Messiah once again started strong scoring early and played solid defense en route to the 5-0 victory.
Erin Cressman drew a walk in the second inning and was advanced to second on a single by
Amber Bingaman.
Sydney Boreman laid down a SAC bunt to advance the runners to second and third.
Amanda Petersen delivered an RBI SAC bunt to the pitcher scoring Cressman, and then Bingaman scored on an error by the first baseman giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

Later in the top of the fourth, Cressman once again started things for Messiah with a triple to right field. She scored on a SAC fly to left field by Bingaman and the lead was 3-0 after the inning. Chances to score were scarce for either team until the top of the sixth inning when the Falcons added a few more runs to their total.

Haylee Anders entered to pinch hit and struck out but advanced to first base safely on a drop third strike. Anders was advanced to second on a ground out by
McKenzie Tebbs and then
Erin Cressman came up big with her second home run of the season extending the Falcons lead 5-0. Dickinson had a chance in the bottom of the sixth when Jessica Epstein doubled down the left field line to start the inning but Yannetti was tough in the circle and they were unable to push a run across.

Messiah left one on base in the seventh and then
Madelyn Yannetti retired the side on defense to give the Falcons the 5-0 win and double-header sweep. Yannetti threw the complete game shutout giving up just two hits and striking out two.
