Grantham, PA - The Messiah College women's tennis team hosted Eastern University on Monday afternoon. The Falcons were able to pull out a close 5-4 victory over the Eagles and moved to a 6-5 overall record.
Messiah went 2-1 in doubles action.
Kelly Hopkins and
Amanda Adams played a great doubles game and defeated Eastern 8-3. This is the second time the two have played together this season and their first win as partners.
Robin Schwarzmann and
Gabby Brooks won a close match against the Eagles by a score of 9-7.
Emily Wichert and
Meagan Scala also played a tight match, but fell to their opponents 8-6.
In singles play, Messiah and Eastern went 3-3.
Kelly Hopkins (6-3, 6-2),
Meagan Scala (6-1, 6-1) and
Robin Schwarzmann (6-2, 3-6, 10-8), were each defeated in their matches. However,
Amanda Adams (6-1, 6-0) and
Emily Wichert (6-0, 6-2) both finished with victories to give Messiah the 5-4 win over Eastern.
Messiah will be back in action on Apr. 19 when they travel to Lycoming College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
