Falcons Soar Over Warriors, Move to 5-0 in MAC Commonwealth

Williamsport, PA - The Falcons pick up a big conference road victory after defeating Lycoming 8-1 on their home court. The Messiah College men's tennis team remains undefeated in the MAC Commonwealth, 5-0, and moved to 7-5 overall. 

In doubles action the Falcons were unstoppable. Tim Dunn and Connor Graybeal (No. 1 doubles), Devin Esch and Austin Warren (No. 2), and Alex Mantsevich and Keller Martin (No. 3) all defeated the Warriors 8-1.

In singles play, Messiah went 5-1 against Lycoming. Tim Dunn (No.1 singles) was tested but won both sets (6-3, 6-4). Devin Esch (No. 3) picked up a sweep for the Falcons in both sets (6-0, 6-0), while Alex Mantsevich (No. 5) and Keller Martin (No. 6) also had dominating performances, winning 6-2, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. Austin Warren (No. 4) had to battle during his match against Lycoming's Evan Bennetch. Warren went up in the first set 6-1 and dropped the second set 4-6. After a lot of back and forth action, Warren pulled out the 11-9 victory to pick up Messiah's fifth singles win of the afternoon. Connor Graybeal (No. 2) also had a close match but ended up falling to his opponent 6-7 (10-8), 7-6 (7-4), 10-8.

Messiah will next play on Apr. 22 when they host Lebanon Valley College at 1:00 p.m.
