Messiah Sweeps Doubles, Wins 7-2 Over Lebanon Valley

Grantham, PA - Messiah men's tennis broke a tie atop the MAC Commonwealth this afternoon with a 7-2 win over Lebanon Valley. The Falcons and Dutchmen were each undefeated in the conference before the afternoon began, and the Falcons came out with perfect 6-0 record. Lebanon Valley fell to 5-1 and are currently second in the conference ahead of Stevenson (4-1).

Messiah swept each doubles match, with Tim Dunn and Connor Graybeal winning 8-5. That was the closest results in doubles as the duos of Devin Esch-Austin Warren and Alex Mantsevich-Blake Ross won by 8-3 and 8-2 scores, respectively.

The strong start was fortified with a 4-2 edge in singles. Dunn was dominant with scores of 6-1, 6-0, and Esch was just as impressive with scores of 6-2, 6-0. Graybeal and Jon Hastings played the closest of all singles with Hastings winning 7-6 (7-0), 7-6 (7-5).

As mentioned, the win pushed Messiah to 6-0 in the MAC Commonwealth. They have one more conference competition left against Alvernia on Saturday, Apr. 29. Prior to that regular-season finale Messiah has three non-conference matches scheduled this week starting with Juniata on Tuesday.
