Grantham, PA - In a battle of the last two undefeated teams in the MAC Commonweatlh, Lebanon Valley rallied from a 3-0 hole after doubles to edge Messiah, 5-4. The decision pushed Messiah to 5-1 in the conference, good for second in the standings behind the Dutchmen who moved to 6-0.

Kelly Hopkins and Carly Dove took No. 1 doubles 9-7 and the duos of Sydney Schandel-Amanda Adams and Meagan Scala-Emily Wichert won their competitions 8-4 and 8-2, respectively.

The fast start for Messiah came to a screeching halt in the singles matches where the Dutchmen won all except No. 6 (Amanda Adams 6-3, 6-1). Hopkins won 6-1 to start well at No. 1, but Marla Scacchitt then won 6-4 and 6-2 to earn the win. Meagan Scala also battled well at No. 4, but lost 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. Messiah lost in straight sets at No. 2, 3, and 5.

Messiah has three non-conference matches scheduled for this week, starting with Elizabethtown on Wednesday, before they take on Alvernia on Saturday, Apr. 29 in both the regular-season and MAC Commonwealth finale.
