Owings Mills, MD - The Messiah men's tennis team had an outstanding showing when they traveled down to Stevenson University on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons defeated the Mustangs 9-0 and moved to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.
In doubles action,
Devin Esch and
Austin Warren (No. 2 doubles)Â started strong and finished strong, they also didn't let their opponents win a game and picked up an 8-0 win.
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal (No. 1)Â had to fight for every single point and won their battle 8-6.
Alex Mantsevich and
Blake Ross (No. 3) also came out on top by defeating the Mustangs 8-3.
On the singles side of things,
Devin Esch (No. 3),
Austin Warren (No. 4), and
Blake Ross (No. 6) each swept their opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Tim Dunn (No. 1) had the match of the afternoon and defeated the Mustang's top player, Bryan Gieselman, 6-4, 6-2.
Connor Graybeal started strong in his match, winning the first set 6-0. In the second set, Graybeal was tested but was able to hold on for the 6-2 victory.
Alex Mantsevich (No. 5) also picked up a win for the Falcons by defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-2.
The Falcons will pick back up conference play on Saturday when they host Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m.
