Grantham, PA - The Messiah College women's tennis team defeated Arcadia 8-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons did not let the high winds hinder their performance and picked up another conference victory. Messiah moved to 5-5 overall and 4-0 in the MAC Commonwealth Conference.
In doubles play, the Falcons were victorious in all three matches.
Kelly Hopkins and
Carly Dove won 8-1, while
Meagan Scala,
Emily Wichert,
Amanda Adams, and
Robin Schwarzmann defeated their opponents 8-2.
In singles action, Messiah won five out of the six matches.
Kelly Hopkins (No.1) defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1.
Carly Dove (No.2) was down in the first set 2-6, battled hard to win the second set 7-5, and held on to win the third set 6-4.
Meagan Scala (No.3) fell to Arcadia's Zoe Foglia 6-2, 7-5.
Emily Wichert (6-3, 6-3),
Amanda Adams (6-0, 6-0) and
Robin Schwarzmann (8-1) all came out on top for the Falcons.
Messiah will be back in action on Apr. 10 when they host Eastern University at 3:00 p.m.
