Four Falcons Earn All-Region Honors

2017 NFCA All-Region Teams

Louisville, KY – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced this week more than 350 players selected for the 2017 Division III All-Region softball teams. Messiah College received four honors: Carrie Fix and Erin Cressman were named First Team for the East Region, while Amanda Jones and Madelyn Yannetti were named Second Team.
 
All but Yannetti are repeat selections from last season, with Jones earning the honor for the third time in her career.
 
Fix was selected to the First Team in the utility position as she is being recognized for both her pitching and offensive numbers. She carried a .329 batting average this season and was third on the team with 51 hits. Fix knocked in 22 RBI's and scored 28 runs. In the pitching circle she was 14-3 with a 1.75 ERA and held opponents to a .208 batting average.
 
Cressman's second consecutive honor comes after receiving First Team honors last year. She led the team with eight home runs, a .659 slugging percentage, and 36 RBI's. Cressman batted .363, was second on the team with 30 runs scored, and fourth with 49 hits.
 
Amanda Jones is earning her third consecutive All-Region honor after being named Third Team in 2015 and Second Team in 2016. She led the team with 60 hits, 34 runs scored, was second with 34 RBI's and a .526 slugging percentage. Jones also set a new Messiah program record with 16 career triples and she became the fourth player in program history to eclipse 200 career hits.
 
Madelyn Yannetti is earning her first All-Region honor for her pitching performance this season. Yannetti tossed 160.2 innings and recorded a 17-6 record with 28 total appearances. She boasted a 1.22 ERA and held opponents to just a .203 batting average.
