Falcons Drop Pair of Duals to Bullets and River Hawks

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Messiah men's swimming team dropped a pair of duals on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Susquehanna River Hawks (168-91) and the Gettysburg Bullets (161-92) on the road at Gettysburg. Messiah turned in a total of nine, top-three finishes from the team today with the 400 Free Relay taking the top spot among competitive teams in a time of 3:17.00.
 
How It Happened
Messiah's effort on Saturday featured seven top-three finishes among individuals with Daniel Logan and Ridge Hagar each collecting multiple finishes in the top-three. Logan took third in the 200 Free (1:46.56) before earning second in the 500 Free (5:00.20). Hagar shined in the backstroke, finishing in third-place in both the 100 Back (55.48) and the 200 Back (2:03.81).
 
Including Hagar, Messiah had their strongest performance in the 200 Back with three of the top four times coming from Falcons. Tyler Wilkinson turned in the best swim in the event with a second-place finish in a time of 2:02.88. Hagar was next with a time of 2:03.81 in third-place and Kurtis Platteel was right on his heels in fourth-place, getting to the wall in 2:04.93.
 
Platteel also earned a third-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.84.
 
Andrew Leeper claimed second-place in the 50 Free with a time of 21.79, less than a quarter of a second behind the first-place finisher, Sam Nonemaker of Gettysburg (21.57).

Messiah also had a number of other strong performances on the day with Mason Kennedy and Joshua Simmons turning in solid times in the 1000 Free. Kennedy finished in 10:50.79 and Simmons got to the wall in 11:45.51, dropping more than three seconds off his best time of the season.
 
As mentioned the Falcons capped off the meet with a first-place finish among the competitive teams in the pool in the 400 Free Relay. The team of Logan, Wilkinson, Hagar, and Leeper got to the wall in 3:17.00,
 
What's Up Next
The Falcons will not be back in the pool for a competition until the end of November when they make the short trip to Dickinson College for a dual with the Red Devils on Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m.
