Falcons Drop Road Game Against The Chargers

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Falcons fought hard on the road against the Lancaster Bible Chargers but couldn't complete the comeback, dropping the game 81-72. Messiah pulled within one off a left—handed hook shot late in the game from Nate Eberle but the Chargers used a late run to hold off the Falcons' pressure.

Colin Sareyka (23tps) and Matt Glogowski (17pts) led the offense for the Falcons while Josh Darville grabbed 15 boards to help the Falcons maintain possession. As a team, the Falcons shot .385 from the field and .235 from beyond the arc. Messiah picked up 34 rebounds and eight steals.

Slow Start
The game started with nearly two full scoreless minutes before the first bucket was made by LBC. The Falcons missed a few jumpers early until recording their first point of the game with a made free throw from Matt Glogowski with 16:28 to play in the first half. The Chargers continued their pressure, taking a 9-3 lead but Josh Darville stole the ball, earned two points then stole the ball again, this time dishing it out to Colin Sareyka who sunk the three-pointer to make a 9-8 game in favor of the Chargers. LBC took a four-point lead from here but the Falcons continued to battle with them. Sam Whittle hit a jumper to help the Falcons pull within one point again, making it 16-15 in favor of Lancaster Bible with 11:35 to play in the first-half. LBC utilized a 9-0 run to gain steady momentum that eventually lifted them to a 30-18 lead over Messiah, forcing the Falcons to take a timeout. Although the timeout caused a break in the Chargers' run, they came back shooting, taking as much as a 15-point lead over the Falcons in the last five minutes of the first-half. Messiah used points from Will Young IV, Matt Glogowski, and Zach McDonough to pull within nine before the break with the score set at 44-35.

Second Half Battle
Within the first 20 seconds of the second half, Colin Sareyka stole the ball and put it in for two to try to get things going for the Falcons, making it a seven-point game with the score set at 44-37 in favor of the Chargers. LBC maintained the run of play for the next 10 minutes of the game, holding as much as an 11-point lead at one point. The last 10 minutes of the half were host to a late comeback attempt by the Falcons. Colin Sareyka got things started with a jumper to make it a 59-52 game in favor of the Chargers. Nate Eberle and Colin Sareyka both came through on layups shortly after to help the Messiah pull within six. Shortly after Messiah called a timeout, LBC went on a quick run, taking an 11-point lead again but the Falcons answered back with a three-point play from Josh Darville and a three-pointer from Matt Glogowski to put the pressure on LBC. After getting fouled in the paint, Darville went to the line and sunk one of his two shots which was followed up by Nate Eberle driving in the paint to score two and put the Falcons just one point behind the Chargers with 2:55 to play. LBC tried to pull away quick but Zach McDonough knocked down a jumper to make it a one-point game again with the score set at 72-71.
