Red Devils Top Falcons in Non-Conference Dual

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Messiah men's swimming team fell to the Dickinson Red Devils 144-58 on Tuesday night. The Falcons claimed the final event of the night with the fastest time in the 200 Free Relay. The Messiah team of Tyler Wilkinson, Ridge Hagar, Daniel Logan, and Andrew Leeper claimed the top spot with a time of 1:30.42.

The Falcons will be next in action this weekend when they travel to Washington and Lee for a two-day invitational beginning on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

How It Happened
After starting the dual with a second and fourth place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay, the Messiah men put together strong showings in the 200 Free with Daniel Logan and Tyler Wilkinson finishing back-to-back in second and third with times of 1:49.82 and 1:50.42, respectively. Dickinson's Damon St. Prix (1:49.57) claimed the race thanks to a speedy final lap.

In addition to his top-three finish in the 200 Free, Wilkinson earned a second-place finish in the 100 Free later in the meet. The freshman got to the wall in 50.92 to take second behind Dickinson's Ben Shapiro (48.81).

Andrew Leeper had a strong showing in the 50 Free, taking second-place in a time of 22.70. Teammate David Welch (23.30) was close behind Leeper in third-place as Dickinson's Ben Shoul earned first with a time of 22.48.

Like Leeper, Ridge Hagar was out touched in the 100 Back by less than half a second. The Messiah sophomore finished in third-place with a time of 55.84 thanks to a pair of very even splits (27.89 and 27.95). Dickinson's Liam Pauli took first and Graham Novitch claimed second with times of 55.51 and 55.57, respectively.

As mentioned the Falcons capped off the evening with a victory in the 200 Free Relay. Messiah's team of Wilkinson, Hagar, Logan, and Leeper finished with a time of 1:30.42, less than half a second ahead of the top Dickinson team (1:30.85).

What's Up Next
The Falcons will be back in the water on Saturday and Sunday when they travel to the Washington and Lee Invitational in Lexington, Va. The Washington and Lee Invitational will be the final competitive event for the Falcons prior to Winter Break.
