Falcons Split Dual Meet Against Widener and Hood

CHESTER, Pa. - The Falcons split at their double-dual meet, hosted by Widener University, losing to the Widener Pride but earning the victory over the Hood Blazers. Headlining Messiah's performance today was Ridge Hagar, who won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:03.63 and helped Messiah win the 200 Yard Medley Relay with Anthony Pompei, Daniel Logan, and Andrew Leeper in a time of 1:41.51. 

How It Happened
The Falcons started the day with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The relay crew consisted of Ridge Hagar (25.37), Anthony Pompei (28.95), Daniel Logan (25.18), and Andrew Leeper (22.01). The crew finished the race with a time of 1:41.51 which was just .52 seconds ahead of Widener's team, who finished in second with a time of 1:42.01. 

Eli McCabe led the way for Messiah in the 1000 Yard Freestyle as he finished with a time of 11:25.69 to take third-place. McCabe was nearly seven seconds ahead of the fourth-place finisher. Also of note in the 1000 Yard Freestyle was Joshua Simmons who improved nearly 20 seconds from his last race to finish fifth with a time of 11:48.35.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Messiah's Daniel Logan finished in 1:47.21 to secure second-place, just under a second behind first place. Shortly after Logan, The Falcons' Mason Kennedy finished in 1:56.55 to take fourth-place.

Messiah registered a trio of Falcons in the 100 Yard Freestyle who finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the event. Leading the way in this one was Ridge Hagar (54.22). Just behind him were teammates Tyler Wilkinson (57.60) and Kurtis Platteel (58.35). 

In the 200 Yard Butterfly, Anthony Pompei edged out a Hood Blazer to take third with a time of 2:12.02. Pompei was just over a second ahead of the fourth-place finisher. 

Andrew Leeper highlighted the Falcons' performance in the 50 Yard Freestyle, finishing the race in second-place with a time of 22.17 which was almost a full second ahead of the third-place finisher. Leeper was also the highlight of Messiah's swimmers in the 100 Yard Freestyle as he finished in third-place with a time of 52.09. David Welch came through the line just behind Leeper, finishing the race in 52.34.

The Falcons put swimmers in the top-five of the 200 Yard Backstroke, including Ridge Hagar (1st, 2:03.63) and Tyler Wilkinson (2nd, 2:04.02). Finishing in fourth-place was Kurtis Platteel, who came through in 2:07.70, almost 10 full seconds ahead of fifth-place. 

In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Daniel Logan finished in second-place after a hard battle throughout the race. Logan finished with a time of 4:59.85, just over a second behind the first-place finisher who finished in 4:58.80.

Anthony Pompei swam in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 57.05. Pompei had to fight to earn this win as he was in fourth after the first lap but swam strong to finish among the top-three.

Ridge Hagar, Tyler Wilkinson, Daniel Logan, and Andrew Leeper came together to take second-place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:18.13. The Falcons' time was more than 20 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.

The Falcons will compete at Gettysburg College on Nov. 10 against Gettysburg and Susquehanna, starting at 1:00 p.m.
