GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Falcons fought hard against the Blazers but fell to Hood 81-68.
Matt Glogowski led the Falcons' offense with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Will Young IV recorded a career-high with 15 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. As a team, the Falcons shot 34.2% from the field and 27.0% beyond the arc. Messiah is now 4-5 overal and 1-1 on the season. The Falcons will travel to Alvernia University on Dec. 8 at 3:00 p.m.
From Start to Finish
The Falcons struggled to gain momentum in the first half as the Blazers started the game with a 9-0 run before
Matt Glogowski could earn the first two points for Messiah. The Falcons called a timeout with 15:55 to play in the first half to attempt to slow down the Blazers but Hood fought their way to a 23-4 lead, forcing another Messiah timeout. The Falcons earned a quick five points after the talk with a three-pointer from
EJ Porter and a jumper from
Will Young IV.
Cam Carter and Matt Glogowksi kept things going for Messiah as both sunk a three-pointer with just under 10 minutes to play but still trailed 31-15. In the last five minutes of the half,
Colin Sareyka and
Nate Eberle both put up a layup to make it 35-19.
Matt Glogowski made a big push with 3:17 to play in the first half to help the Falcons slow down Hood but the Blazers charged into the break holding a 43-26 lead.
In the first three minutes of the second half,
Colin Sareyka and
EJ Porter sparked the Falcons' offense, both recording a three-pointer to help Messiah cut down the Blazers' lead. Of an inbound moments later, Matt Glogowksi put one in to make it 51-34. Immediately following that play,
Colin Sareyka stole the ball from the Blazers and sank two free throws after getting fouled on the fast break. With 14:00 to play in the second half,
EJ Porter dropped another three-pointer from the top of the circle to make it 56-40.
Will Young IV completed a three-point play after getting fouled on a fast break but the Blazers continued their charge, taking a 63-46 lead with 10:56 to play in the second half. A three-pointer from Hood gave the Blazers a 77-48 lead with 7:56 to play, forcing the Falcons to take a timeout. Out of the timeout,
Sam Whittle drained a three-pointer which was followed by a baseline jumper from
Matt Glogowski. Whittle kept things going as he drained another three-pointer with 4:15 to play in the second half.
Colin Sareyka followed that up with a layup through traffic that forced the Blazers to take a timeout with the score set at 77-60 in favor of the Blazers.
Sam Whittle drained a buzzer beater to end the game but the three would prove to little as the Blazers defeated Messiah 81-68.
