WAYNESBURG, Pa. - Just hours after defeating Gettysburg at home on Friday night, the Messiah wrestling team was back on the mat on Saturday at the Waynesburg Duals against Thomas More, Waynesburg, Baldwin Wallace, and Defiance. Messiah started their day with a victories over Thomas More (35-7) and Waynesburg (31-10) before dropping their dual against No. 8 Baldwin-Wallace. Messiah wrapped-up their day with a 40-14 victory over Defiance.

Messiah defeats Thomas More - 35-7 - Results
The Falcons jumped out to a 20-0 lead thanks to three decisions, a technical fall by Matthew Darok at 141 lbs., and a pin by Joshua Paige at 157 lbs. After the Saints claimed a pair of bouts, Victor DeFrance earned a 10-3 decision at 184 lbs., Messiah earned a forfeit at 197 lbs., and Denny Karas capped off the dual with a first period pin in 1:44.

Josiah Gehr got the match started with a high-scoring, 18-13 decision over Thomas More's Jimmy Murphy at 125 lbs. Ka'au Estrella followed with another high-scoring decision at 133 lbs., defeating Kenny Ryles 12-10.

Matthew Darok created some separation for Messiah with a dominating technical fall in just 4:30 over Gavin Foushee at 141 lbs. With Darok's tech fall, the Falcons took an 11-0 lead in the team score. A 7-5 decision for Hunter Zacerous followed at 149 lbs. before Josh Paige pinned Garren Moody in the third period to open up a 20-0 lead for the Falcons.

Thomas More earned a 12-5 major decision at 165 lbs. and an 8-7 decision at 174 lbs. to cut the Messiah lead to 14-6, but the Falcons rebounded with a 10-3 decision by Victor DeFrance at 184 lbs. Joe Embleton won by forfeit at 197 lbs. and Denny Karas put the cherry on top of the 35-7 victory with a pin in 1:44 in the heavyweight bout.

Messiah defeats Waynesburg - 31-10 - Results
Just as they did against Thomas More in their first match, the Falcons jumped out to a massive lead against Waynesburg. Messiah built a 31-0 lead through the first eight matches against the Yellow Jackets en route to a 31-10 win.

Messiah dominated the hosting Yellow Jackets thanks to five decisions, a pair of technical falls, and a pin by Dalton Daugherty (133 lbs.). At 125 lbs. Josiah Gehr needed just 5:44 to earn a major decision by an 18-1 score. Daugherty followed with a second period pin of Waynesburg's Dylan Winters in 3:30.

An 11-6 decision for Nick Nunez came at 141 lbs. before Stephen Maloney made quick work of Jaeden Gordon at 149 lbs. with a 21-3 technical fall in just 2:35. The Falcons then won the next four bouts by decision with Lee Cassel (157 lbs., 12-5), David Stevens (1165 lbs., 5-2), Dan Swarr (174 lbs., 4-1), and Victor DeFrance (184 lbs., 10-7) helping push the Messiah lead to 31-0. Waynesburg claimed the final two bouts by major decision and a pin, but it was not enough as Messiah claimed their second dual of the day with a 31-10 final score.

No. 8 Baldwin-Wallace defeats Messiah - 25-12 - Results
Messiah once again got off to a quick start with Josiah Gehr picking up his third victory of the day with a 13-9 decision over Baldwin-Wallace's Chad Craft at 125 lbs. Gehr's decision gave Messiah a 3-0 lead, but a second-period pin for the Yellow Jackets' Dante Ginetti gave Baldwin-Wallace a 6-3 lead heading to the 141 lbs. bout.

Messiah quickly tied the score at 6-6, with Nick Nunez earning his second decision of the day thanks to a 6-3 victory over Charlie Hash. Stephen Maloney kept the Messiah momentum going with an 8-3 decision at 149 lbs. against Stanley Bleich, giving Messiah a 9-6 lead.

The Yellow Jackets responded with a major decision at 157 lbs. and a decision at 165 lbs. to take the lead back at 13-9, but a 6-1 decision from Dan Swarr over Adam Green at 174 lbs. brought Messiah within one at 13-12. That was as close as the Falcons would get in the dual as Baldwin-Wallace earned a decision, a pin, and a major in the final three bouts to close out the 25-12 victory

Messiah defeats Defiance - 40-14 - Results
Messiah capped off the Waynesburg Duals by playing their third team of Yellow Jackets on the day. The Falcons earned a 40-14 victory over the Defiance Yellow Jackets to move to 3-1 on the day. Unlike their first three matches, Messiah fell into an early hole with the Yellow Jackets winning three of the first four bouts with a pair of major decisions and a pin. Messiah won by forfeit at 141 lbs. and trailed 14-6 heading into the 157 lbs. bout. Messiah won that match by forfeit before rattling off three pins and a major decision in the next four matches.

David Stevens (165 lbs.) earned a pin in just 53 seconds and Dan Swarr (174 lbs.) followed with a first period fall as well. At 184 lbs. Victor DeFrance earned a dominating 12-3 decision before Joe Embleton (197 lbs.) finished a fall. Carter Urich (285 lbs.) was award a forfeit victory as the Falcons cruised to the 40-14 victory to complete the day 3-1.
