ANNVILLE, Pa. – With the Middle Atlantic Conference Semifinal one day away, the conference has announced the first ever All-MAC men's volleyball team. The Falcons received six conference honors and head coach
Justin Beachy led the way with Coach of the Year.
Brad Nase andÂ
Logan Hunsberger were named to the First Team, while
Brendan Warren,
Caleb Weaver, and
Travis Hoover received Second Team honors.
In the first year of his head coaching career at Messiah,
Justin Beachy received the MAC Coach of the Year award, which speaks highly of his leadership on and off the court during this inaugural season. Beachy has led the Falcons to a 15-9 overall record and the No. 2-seed heading into the MAC conference tournament.
Brad Nase, who is currently ranked seventh in the nation and leads the conference in assists per set (10.05), picked up First Team recognition for the Falcons. This honor is well deserved for Nase as he has distributed the ball well to his hitters consistently all year. He has collected 784 assists this season and has helped lead his team to be one of the top offensive teams in the conference. Messiah leads the conference in kills per set (12.13) and is second in hitting percentage (.264).
Logan Hunsberger is the second Falcon named to the All-MAC First Team. Hunsberger has been a standout performer and leader for Messiah in their first season as an official collegiate program. He leads his team in kills per set (3.13), total service aces (30), and is second in digs (121). Hunsberger collected a season-high of 24 kills in their tough loss to Eastern Mennonite University back in March.
Brendan Warren is another senior leader for Messiah and he received Second Team honors. Warren is a well-rounded player and has been playing in the libero position for Messiah. Warren's strengths are serve receive, keeping the Falcons in system, and covering his attackers. He has collected a total of 105 digs this season.
Caleb Weaver also picked up Second Team recognition for the Falcons. Weaver is an enthusiastic player and a steady defender for Messiah in his role as libero. Weaver's specialty is defense and is ranked fourth in the conference in averaging 2.00 digs per set. He leads the Falcons in digs (144) and is third in assists (26).
Travis Hoover has been a dynamic attacker on the right side for the Falcons and he was also named to the Second Team. Hoover is second on the team in kills (209) and kills per set (2.79) and is fourth in the MAC in hitting efficiency (.348). He is also a big defender at the net and averages 0.51 blocks per set.Â
