XML Box Score 1 | XML Box Score 2 GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah softball split with Gettysburg College this afternoon winning the first game 4-0 but fell in the night cap by a score of 3-2. Offense was hard to come by for both teams today as the pitchers did a nice job to throw off hitters and defense was solid. Isabel Seise came through with two RBI's in the first game, Erin Cressman was 1-1 and earned two walks, and Angie Stephano was 2-3 in the second game.

Madely Yannetti (6-4) earned the win in game one after throwing four innings and giving up just one hit, while Tiffany White (0-1) suffered the loss in game two.

Messiah is now 22-14 and has a quick turnaround as they are back on the home field tomorrow afternoon hosting Arcadia University in a MAC Commonwealth double header beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Game One: Messiah 4, Gettysburg 0
This game was a quiet one for the most part as pitchers threw well in the circle. Messiah scored in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead when Carrie Fix hit a triple to right center to get things going. Haylee Anders then reached on a throwing error by the shortstop and Fix was able to score on the play. Anders advanced to third on a wild pitch and then Erin Cressman walked and stole second to get into scoring position. Isabel Seise hit a long fly to right field and Anders tagged up to score the second run.

Gettysburg got one runner on in the second inning but catcher Angie Stephano made a nice play to pick her off at first base. After a few innings the Falcons added two more runs in the sixth with Amber Bingaman starting the rally with a single up the middle. Cressman walked again and then Seise came through with another RBI-single for the third run. Later with two outs, Gettysburg made a nice play to get a runner out at third but Cressman scored the fourth run before the out was made.

Madelyn Yannetti threw a shutout final inning as Messiah won 4-0.

Game Two: Messiah 2, Gettysburg 3
The Bullets got on the board first in the top of the second when Taylor Doi singled to score a run. The Falcons earned a run back in the fourth inning when Haylee Anders started it off with a triple to right center and then Amber Bingaman singled to bring in the tying run. Messiah had other chances that inning to score but the Gettysburg defense managed to get out of the inning without any further damage.

In the top of the fifth, Gettysburg added another run by stringing together a few singles, but Messiah again had a response and scored the equalizer in the bottom half of the inning. Samantha Esper hit a triple, the team's third of the day, and then scored on a bunt-single by Carrie Fix. Unfortunately, one run was all the Falcons were able to muster up as pitcher Morgan Clauser worked her way out of the inning.

Gettysburg scored a run in the top of the sixth as there was a missed defensive opportunity by Messiah. The Falcons did not have any chances the next two times at bat to score and suffered the 3-2 loss.
