ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) have released the All-Conference teams for women's lacrosse, and six Messiah athletes were named to the three All-MAC Commonwealth teams.

Senior Kendra Herbenar was named Defensive Player of the Year and received First Team honors (second-straight season). Joining Herbenar on the First Team are juniors Courtney Wagner and Annika Johnsen. Jamie Bishop and Audrey Liberati each were given Second Team accolades, while first-year player Katie Stottlemyer was named Honorable Mention.

Herbenar is currently leading the team and the MAC Commonwealth in ground balls per game (3.50, 56 total) and caused turnovers per game (2.94, 47 total). The senior is also tied for fourth in the conference in draw controls per game with 5 (80 total). Herbenar anchors the Messiah defense that is first in the conference and 25th in the nation with a 7.11 goals against average. Herbenar is the fourth Falcon in the last five seasons to receive the Defensive Player of the Year award, joining Emily Mumford (2014), Brooke Gamble (2015), and Alexa Dipeso (2017).

Wagner is making her first appearance on the all-conference teams since a Second Team and Rookie of the Year nod in 2016, while Johnsen is on for the first time in her career. Wagner (44 goals, 34 assists) and Johnsen (37 goals, 12 assists) pace the Falcons in an offense that averages 19.31 points per game (third in the conference). Wagner's assists total is good enough for third in the conference, and her points per game mark of 4.88 (78 total) is fourth in the MAC Commonwealth.

Bishop has enjoyed a solid year on attack as a junior, scoring 20 goals (fourth on the team) and recording 15 assists (third on team). Joining her on Second Team was Liberati, a senior defender who was the main Falcon to take the draw throughout the season. As a result, Liberati is second on the team with 48 draw controls, as well as fifth with 20 ground balls. Fellow defender Stottlemyer also earned the Honorable Mention accolade following an impressive year as a first-year player, starting all 16 games thus far for the Falcons while recording 20 ground balls and causing eight turnovers.

Messiah will enter the MAC Commonwealth Championships as the 1-seed after going undefeated in conference regular-season play, and open by hosting 5-seed Stevenson, who upset 4-seed Arcadia on Monday, in the semifinals on Wednesday, May 2. The winner will advance to face either 2-seed Lebanon Valley or 3-seed Albright on Saturday.
