ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) have released the All-Conference teams for men's lacrosse, and five Messiah athletes were named to the three All-MAC Commonwealth teams.

First-year faceoff specialist Lucas Honebrink was named the Rookie of the Year and given a spot on the Honorable Mention team. Garrett Amsbaugh, Joseph Franken, and Drew Gugliuzza were all named to the First Team, and Quentin Johnson was awarded Second Team recognition.

Amsbaugh receives All-MAC Commonwealth honors for the first time in his career, as the sophomore has enjoyed a breakout season that has him second on the team in both goals (35) and assists (16). Those marks also rank seventh and tenth in the conference, respectively. Amsbaugh has been very efficient this season, recording a .385 shot percentage that leads the team among players that have taken more than five shots. Amsbaugh is also tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals.

Franken has been named to the First Team for the second season in a row, leading the Falcons with 37 goals and 19 assists, marks that are fifth and ninth in the MAC Commonwealth. Franken also has three game-winners, and has scored a goal in all but one game this season, including a six-goal effort on Apr. 18 vs. Hood.

Gugliuzza and Johnson anchor a Messiah defense that is fourth in the conference with a 9.20 goals against average. Both players were named to the All-Conference teams for the second-straight season. Johnson's 27 caused turnovers lead the team and are sixth in the conference, while Gugliuzza is third on the team and 17th in the conference with 15. Johnson has also scored two goals on just six shots on the year.

Honebrink earned Rookie of the Year and Honorable Mention All-MAC Commonwealth after a very impressive start to his career as a faceoff specialist for the Falcons. He is the first Falcon to be named Rookie of the Year since J.J. Miller in 2008. Among players that have taken at least 50 faceoffs, Honebrink is second in the conference with a faceoff percentage of .638 (199-312). The freshman also ranks second in ground balls per game, averaging 8.21 per contest (115 total). Before coming off the field shortly after the faceoff, Honebrink has also been able to score six goals and record two assists.

Messiah will enter the MAC Commonwealth Championships as the 2-seed, and open by hosting 3-seed Widener in the semifinals on Wednesday, May 2. The winner will advance to face either 1-seed Stevenson or 4-seed Lycoming on Saturday.
