WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Messiah College men's tennis team made their fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon at Williams College. The Falcons faced the Gophers from Goucher College in the First Round and were swept 5-0.
Goucher worked quickly through doubles action, winning all three matches. No. 1 doubles
Tim Dunn and
Connor Graybeal were defeated 8-1, while
Galen Fitzkee and
Alex Mantsevich (No. 2) fell 8-0. No. 3's
Andrew Bookman and
Keller Martin dropped the final doubles match 8-2.
In singles action, the Gophers secured two quick wins to advance to play Williams College in the Second Round. At No. 6 singles
Bryson Boettger was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Elliot Diehl and No. 3
Connor Graybeal fell to Michael Herman 6-2, 6-0.
Messiah had a great season after going 7-0 in the MAC Commonwealth and winning their fifth-straight conference title.
Connor Graybeal and
Tim Dunn will be graduating for the Falcons after outstanding careers at Messiah.
