Trio Of Falcons Earn All-Region Honors

2018 NFCA All-Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced this week more than 350 players selected for the 2018 Division III All-Region softball teams. Messiah College received four honors: Carrie Fix and Erin Cressman were named First Team for the East Region, while Joy Kolakowski was named to the Third Team.
 
Fix and Cressman are both earning repeat honors while first-year player Kolakowski is a first time selection.
 
Fix was selected to the First Team as an at-large selection being recognized for both her pitching and offensive numbers. She carried a .377 batting average this season and was first on the team with 61 hits. Fix knocked in 24 RBI's and scored 36 runs. In the pitching circle she was 10-6 with a 2.42 ERA and held opponents to a .260 batting average. Carrie Fix is earning this First Team All-Region recognition for the fourth-straight season.
 
Cressman's third consecutive honor comes after receiving First Team honors last year. She led the team with a .423 batting average, 11 home runs, a .829 slugging percentage, and 37 RBI's. Also the leader on the team for runs scored (50) and walks (46) with both marks breaking program records. Cressman was second on the team with 47 hits.
 
Joy Kolakowski is earning her first All-Region honor for her pitching performance this season after being named the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year. Kolakowski tossed 118.2 innings and had an overall record of 11-6. She held opponents to a .235 batting average and had 76 strikeouts.
