Falcons Advance to Championship For Fifth Straight Year

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College men's tennis team defeated No. 4 Arcadia University 5-1 in the MAC Commonwealth semifinal to advance to the conference championship for the fifth-straight year. Tim Dunn was able to punch the Falcons' ticket by winning his singles' match (6-2, 6-1). Messiah will have home court advantage on Saturday, May 5 as they host the winner of No. 2 Stevenson and No. 3 Lebanon Valley.

No. 1 doubles Tim Dunn and Connor Graybeal started things off strong for Messiah with a dominant 8-2 win over their opponents. Andrew Bookman and Keller Martin (No. 3 doubles) were close behind with an 8-3 victory. However, Alex Mantsevich and Galen Fitzkee struggled and fell to their opponents 8-2.

Messiah needed to win three singles matches to move on to the MAC Commonwealth Championship and that they did. Connor Graybeal (No. 3) was able to pick up an early 6-1, 6-1 win for the Falcons and Bryson Boettger soon finished with a 6-1, 6-3 win to give Messiah their fourth victory of the day. As previously mentioned, Tim Dunn sealed the deal with strong serving and won 6-2, 6-1 to give his team a return trip to compete for the conference title for the fifth-straight year.
