Joy Kolakowski Leads Five All-Conference Honors

Annville, PA – The Messiah softball team is heading into the MAC Commonwealth Tournament this weekend and will face Lebanon Valley on Friday afternoon, and today they were honored with five All-MAC Commonwealth honors. Joy Kolakowski led the way earning pitcher of the year in just her first season with the Falcons.

Two Falcons joined Kolakowski on the First Team, with three others named to the Second Team.
 
Kolakowski is having a strong first-year campaign in the pitching circle with an overall record of 9-4 across 99.2 innings. She's boasting an ERA of 1.76, has held opponents to a .227 batting average, which is second in the conference statistics, and so far has 56 strikeouts this season.

Erin Cressman has earned her second consecutive First Team honor after being named to the team last year. Cressman is first on the team in batting average (.424), RBI's (34), she is boasting a .818 slugging percentage, and has 42 hits. She broke the record for walks in a single season with a team-leading 39, and became the career home run (29) leader earlier this season.
 
Starting the Second Team honors is Amber Bingaman who was a First Team selection last year. Offensively she is holding a ..333 batting average, has 42 hits, and 18 RBI's. She also has a .484 slugging percentage and has scored 24 runs. In the field Bingaman holds a .972 fielding percentage with 63 putouts.

Carrie Fix is earning her fourth consecutive conference honor after being named to the Second Team in 2015, 2016, and 2017. She was also named Rookie of the Year in 2015. As one of the starting pitchers for Messiah, Fix is holding a 2.30 ERA and has limited opponents to a .258 batting average. She has thrown 100.1 innings and holds a 9-6 record so far this year. Offensively she is continuing off the success from previous seasons batting .384 with 56 hits, 34 runs scored, and 22 RBI's. Fix has broken some program records this season and is still building on those including career runs scored (141), career doubles (65), and is encroaching on the career hits mark (234) with 225 so far.

Haylee Anders is picking up her first conference honor and rightfully so as she has had a consistent 2018 season. Anders is batting .296 with 37 hits and 20 runs scored. She has collected 17 RBI's and a slugging percentage of .408.
