Falcons Fall to York on Road

YORK, Pa. –  For the second-straight match, the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches highlighted the Falcons effort in a tough fall loss. The Messiah men's tennis team fell 7-2 to York on Saturday afternoon on the road, but the Falcons picked up a pair of points on the final two singles courts.
 
In the No. 5 singles match, Keller Martin claimed the first set 6-4 before falling in the second set 7-5 to force a decisive third set against York's Sam Price. Martin prevailed in the tiebreaker set 10-7 to earn the point for the Falcons. Jaron Snader earned an impressive straight-set victory over Tyler Richard of York with a 6-3, 6-0 win on court six.
 
Like Martin, Andrew Bookman played to a tiebreaker third set. Bookman dropped the opening set 7-5, but rallied to earn the second set by a 6-4 score before Joel Hess edged him 10-8 in the tiebreak.
 
In doubles play the teams of Alex Mantsevich/Bryson Boettger and AJ Swanson/Jarod Snader each claimed five games at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively, but both were unable to knock off the Spartans.
 
The Falcons fall to 0-3 on the fall with the 7-2 loss and will next be in action in the MAC Individual Championships on Oct. 13 and 14 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
